Our family has agreed to host your son, Jae. We are looking forward to having a wonderful experience and hope that Jae is too. There are 4 of us in our little family. My name is Colette and my husband's name is David. We have 2 children; our son Cody, 10 years old and our daughter Georgia, who is 7 years. We live in a 4 bedroom home with a large yard and lovely old growth trees in the back. The location is close to the schools and the town centre of Comox. We are also just a 10 minute walk from the ocean. The neighbourhood is very safe and there are lots of kids about. I am a certified dental assistant and David is a cabinet installer. Our children attend French Immersion school and are very active with dance, musical theatre, swimming, sports and family adventures. We love to do a variety of activities such as biking, hiking, watching movies, visiting with other family friends and relatives. We also plan evenings where we go bowling, skating or to the wave pool. We hope Jae will enjoy these activities with us. Our diet is high in vegetables, fruit, whole grains, dairy and some meat. Breakfast foods would be cereal, toast, eggs, waffles, pancakes and sometimes bacon or sausage. Lunch is typically a sandwich, soup and crackers, pasta, fruit, veggies or yogurt. We generally pack our lunches for both work and school. Dinner is meat and veggies. We will sometimes add a starch as a side dish. Our kids enjoy a few snacks throughout the day and we will offer them treats now and then such as granola bars, homemade baked goods, ice cream or the odd candy type of thing. They always like to have a bedtime snack and will usually choose cereal or toast. Does Jae have any foods that he loves? His bedroom has a double bed, dresser, shelves, closet, bedside table with a lamp and is located downstairs beside the kids playroom. We have a gamecube and lots of DVD's. We let our kids watch a little T.V. when homework is completed and they can also go on the computer and have use of the telephone. We do monitor when and for how long though. We try to encourage outside play or playing with their toys inside if the weather isn't great. If you have any questions for us or we can offer more information to help prepare Jae, please let us know. Feel free to call or contact us through e-mail anytime as I know it must be difficult to see your son head off to another country and family. We will work hard to make this a great experience for us all. Sincerely; Colette, David, Cody and Georgia Rodgers.
