DaEun has been involved in clay classes and with her host sister has produced some nice pieces in clay. They are being `fired` and the girls will soon be able to bring them home. DaEun bought some clothes with the money her parents sent her, and had her ears pierced. Thursday of this week, she and her host sisters will be painting banners for the Town of Comox celebrating 40 years of arts in the Comox Valley....we are a very young community compared to Korea! This week also, DaEun will be travelling with her grade 6 class to Hornby Island where they will camp in tents and enjoy kayaking, rock climbing, and study sea life. She has learned how to knit, and is making herself a poncho.\r\n JiHeon is gradually gaining more confidence and taking part in more activities without his sister. He played soccer with Gig, and bought himself a stuffed animal when they went shopping. He does his school assignments well, and always takes them to a family member for help with editing. He had a lot of fun at the international students and families beach party on Friday last, and the family took the children to the beach again on Sunday.\r\n Both children have been to a children`s festival in Nanaimo where they saw acrobats from Taiwan and dancers from Africa. They have also been to an African drum and dance performance on Denman Island. The play badminton and other games in the yard with their friends and host siblings, and will soon have a trampoline set up in the back yard for their use. Their English is improving. The family is planning some camping this summer and perhaps a trip to the Okanogan in the southern interior of British Columbia. They are thinking about what kind of activities they would like to have: their host siblings will be taking part in music, drama, art and sports activities.\r\n The school reports all is well. DaEun is preparing to attend Lake Trail Middle school in the fall, but JiHeon will be remaining at Huband
